5-Star Dentistry, Service & Smiles

"Exceptional Dentistry & Sedation Center is by far the best dental care I've ever received. Not only are the staff super polite they are also very down to earth and chatty. With my previous dentist, it was always just run in and get out as soon as possible. However, these ladies make it actually enjoyable. Especially my hygienist, Brittany, she's so kind and genuinely funny. The second time I saw her she remembered my favorite band and went out of her way to pull them up for me during one of the longer cleaning processes. I truly can't recommend any other place more.”

Daniel A. Gainesville, FL

"Best dentist in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Mowery and his staff are truly Exceptional! They listen to your concerns and provide amazing results. They treat you like a person and not just another patient. Furthermore, Dr. Mowery and his staff are trained in multiple areas of dentistry and cosmetic improvement. For general cleanings to dental reconstructive surgery, cosmetic improvements, and repair… they can do it all."

Jason L. Gainesville, FL

"If you need a dentist... go see Dr. Mowery and the team at Exceptional Dentistry & Sedation Center. Had major work done this week and they were so patient and kind to me. They let me cry and worked with me to have a solution for what was needed. Michelle held my hand and talked me through what to expect and never made me feel silly or inferior. I still am terrified of dentists...but this group lessens the fears. You must go see them if you need dental work!?"

Got Questions? We Have Answers

Our team gets asked plenty of questions about general oral health and specific treatments. We’re happy to provide answers in-person, but we also know that our patients lead busy lives. If you just want to know the basics so you can feel prepared for your next appointment, check out our FAQ section below. We can dive into the details when we see you in-office!

How can I make a same-day appointment with a dentist?

If you need emergency dental care, contact our team directly by giving us a call. We’ll be able to respond with first-aid advice and schedule you for the earliest available appointment much faster over the phone than through email.

As a dental office that provides a comprehensive range of services, we’re well-equipped to promptly address the vast majority of dental emergencies, including chipped or knocked-out teeth, broken restorations, and toothaches. We also offer dental sedation, so rest assured, you’ll be quite comfortable as we work to diagnose and treat the problem!

What is the best way to find a dentist who does dental implants?

Since dental implant treatment is complex, it’s important to look for a dentist with advanced training. So step 1 should be to examine the dentist’s bio. If they list continuing education courses or professional memberships related to implant dentistry, that’s a good sign.

Step 2 is to see whether they can complete the entire dental implant process in-office. Practices that refer out for implant surgery can still provide safe and effective treatment, but a dentist who can perform the surgery themselves likely has more experience. Plus, you’ll be able to save time and money since you’ll only need to visit one office.

Can I receive sedation for my dental appointment?

It will depend on your health history, but we do provide nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious, and IV dental sedation services. All three are considered to be very safe and effective, but it’s still important to make sure that you won’t experience any adverse reactions due to medical conditions or medications.

If you’ve never received dental sedation in the past, it’s also a good idea to talk with our team beforehand about your situation. We may recommend one type of sedation over the other based on how severe your symptoms of anxiety or discomfort are.

In summary, yes – you can receive sedation for your dental appointment at our office. Just be sure to consult with our team before the day of your visit!

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

Dental implants in Gainesville are incredibly durable and greatly extend the lifespan of the restorations they’re attached to. On average, you can expect yours to last somewhere between 20 to 30 years. However, with proper care (daily oral hygiene, avoiding substances that could damage your teeth, etc.), dental implants have been known to last a lifetime!

Steps to a Greater Smile: A Guide Through the Veneer Process

December 18, 2023

a woman smiling after receiving veneers

Have you always daydreamed about being able to show off your dream smile? Whether you have stains, chips, cracks, or minor gaps between your teeth, veneers may be the comprehensive solution you’ve been searching for. While you can expect a wide variety of benefits from this treatment, you might wonder exactly how you’ll upgrade your grin with this procedure. This blog provides a step by step guide through the veneer process, that way you can know what to expect when it comes time to enhance your pearly whites.

The Initial Consultation

The very first part to this cosmetic treatment is always the initial consultation. This is when your dentist will discuss your dental concerns and goals, evaluate your oral health, and determine if veneers are a viable solution for improving your smile. If you’re a good candidate, your dental team can move forward with developing a detailed treatment plan and walk you through the details of the process, including the cost.

Once this portion is completed, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to use in the construction of the veneers. Then, they’ll remove a tiny amount of the tooth enamel from the front surface to make room for the porcelain shells. This is to ensure that your results don’t appear bulky and can blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

The Temporary Veneers

After taking impressions of your teeth and sending these to a trusted dental lab, you’ll be provided with temporary veneers to cover your exposed enamel. Not only will this protect against injury, but it’ll also serve as a trial run for your treatment results. Your dentist will be able to make any necessary adjustments and communicate this with the lab technicians so that your porcelain layers can fit perfectly with your smile. During this waiting period, you’ll simply have to follow the detailed guidelines on how to avoid harming your smile while wearing your temporary veneers.

Receiving Your Final Veneers

Finally, after several weeks, your permanent restorations should be complete. You’ll return to your dental team to have your temporary ones replaced with your final veneers. Your dentist will use a powerful bonding agent that is meant for maximum strength and longevity, allowing the restoration to remain as sturdy as possible for many years to come. Of course, you’ll need to implement proper measures to minimize the risk of damage to your veneers.

Once you’ve received your restorations, you’ll be able to show off a brand-new and dazzling smile. Remember to practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist every six months, and you can be sure to make the most of your incredible results!
